NCCEC Report - July 19, 2008 Congregational Meeting
Since the April 26, 2008 congregational meeting, the following has occurred and the updates were presented in a praise format….Joyce Henderson gave the update and after each, the congregation responded “thank you Lord.”
- A guaranteed maximum price (GMP) was negotiated with Miller Valentine.
- County approved our Site Development Plan on May 22, 2008.
- County approved the Development Agreement with Miller Valentine (County requirement for the posting of bonds for the installation and maintenance of the landscaping, storm water management ponds and water/sewer lines associated with the church site).
- Posted the notice to neighbors on the addition of a storm water management pond at the church site and neighbors did not challenge or object.
- County approved Grading Permit on July 17, 2008 for site work in three days (almost unheard of).
- Secured input on the infrastructure requirements for the kitchen from the Hospitality Committee (Sis. Barbara Love, Sis. Mae Beale, Sis. Barbara Gorham); audio/visual requirements for the sanctuary from the Tape & Sound Ministry (Bro. Ed Thomas and Rev. John West) and overall input to the design from Bro. Ramsey Alexander.
- Had successful pre-construction meeting on July 18, 2008 with the Maryland Department of the Environment and received approval on the proposed storm water management system.
- Blessed with Christian businessmen as leaders on this project for their firms from both Miller Valentine (Mr. Rex Manemann) and Schaefer Construction Management (Mark Schaefer).
- Two banks are willing to lend the money for our new church construction although it may not be the requested amount and negotiations are underway with both.
- Just over 50% of our members have submitted their commitment forms.
- Stepped out on faith and work at the new site will begin on schedule, July 21, 2008.
- Also stepping out on faith that the rest of the membership will come forward and let us know their giving plans so the project is moving forward with all deliberate speed.
