GREETINGS FROM PASTOR TURNER!
Welcome to St. John Baptist Church, SJBC, where we are Looking Up, and Reaching Out!
Visiting a new church can be overwhelming. At SJBC, we strive to make you feel like family the moment you walk through the doors. Don't be surprised if a complete stranger welcomes you like an old friend. Our prayer is that this website will serve as a tool to assist you in discovering the rare treasures found within our church. We are delighted that you desire to learn more about what is being offered here. Take a moment to patiently peruse our site, and experience the unmatched joy of Jesus! To make you feel more at ease before you visit, we have listed below some things you should know.
We invite you to discover why more and more people in the Columbia area are calling SJBC their home. I am confident that you will be encouraged and edified as you are being equipped for ministry. We excitedly anticipate your visit.
See you at church!

CHOOSE YOUR STYLE
We have two worship services with three worship styles: the Traditional Service and the Blended/Contemporary Service. Additionally on the 3rd Sunday at the 10:45am service our worship is Contemporary.
- The Traditional Service begins on Sundays at 8:00 a.m. This service is more traditional with a full choir, and hymns. This Worship Service is usually 1 1/2 hours. Here's an example of the type of music you would hear.
- The Blended/Contemporary Service begins at 10:45 a.m. This service provides a more relaxed atmosphere and a praise team & worship band. On 3rd Sunday, this service includes the latest in contemporary music. This service is about 2 hours in length. Here's an example of the type of music you would hear.
What to expect when you arrive?
When you arrive in parking lot right off of Tamar Drive, members of our parking lot ministry will lead you to a space to park your car. There are a few handicap parking spaces in the front of our lot for those that are disabled. Once you park and enter the main foyer you’ll find friendly greeters and signs to assist you with directions to the nursery, classrooms, the sanctuary, and restrooms.
Where should I take my children?
We believe people of all ages need an exciting church home. Therefore, SJBC has created special worship services for Children and Youth. We have a number of parishioners whose sole responsibility is to minister to our children and youth. They would love to meet you and your children this Sunday and assist you in helping them to be all that God created them to be.
During the 10:45am Service, childcare is provided for children ages 3 – 5 in our Nursery. We now also have Children’s Church for youth in grades 1-6, which begins immediately after our Children’s message at about 11:30am.
How Do I Find a Sunday School Class?
We have plenty of opportunity for every individual to plug into a Sunday School class. From ages 3 to Golden Agers and everyone in between, we have an inviting class waiting for you. Click here to find a Sunday School class.
We also have a Wednesday Evening Power Hour service at 7:00 p.m.
What about after the Service?
At the end of service, we give all of our visitors an opportunity to go to our Fellowship Hall for refreshments and to personally meet the pastor. If you have children, you should pick them up first, then feel free to hang out in the Fellowship Hall and meet our leadership staff and other members of the church. We also have a CD Ministry that can be found in the Fellowship Hall with CDs of the past and current sermons for sale.
